As soon as a vessel's inbound stowage information becomes available, you should review any discrepancies between the discharge list received from the line operator and the existing active units (N4 client Operations
Vessel
Vessel Visits
Vessel Visits view
Vessel Inspector
Disch.list Discrepancies tab).
Once you have reconciled any discrepancies (by using the Actions Update to Unit(s) option), you can review the inbound stowage information in the vessel profile view, scan views, and section views and also in container lists and recaps. The vessel profile view helps you determine the approximate inbound container positions by bay color. The scan and section views let you see the exact positions graphically.
You can color and filter the views to highlight the various types of containers for evaluating the discharge. For example, you can filter for local cargo and assess the overall number of containers to be discharged to identify how much space you are going to need in the yard. Or you may have hot cargo that needs to get on a train. Using group codes (on page 1), you can locate those containers and plan for an early discharge. You should also determine restow containers (on page 1), if any.
You can also print scan plans to assess the inbound stowage.
For more information about opening vessel views, see Graphic vessel information.
Notes
When planners have become familiar with the small container icon symbols, most of them prefer to work a vessel by using the vessel profile and scan views.
